Francolina in the Early Fall

  Francolina in the Early Fall

The Francolina, Francolina akatamaha, is a tree that was saved by John Bartram in 1770 as he created Bartram Gardens in Philadelphia. Bartram was the first American born botanist. His gardens were the first botanical garden in America. The tree flowers from late July through October and is named for Benjamin Franklin. Here are the colors of the leaves in the early fall.
